Dr. Mwinzi is an education and training expert with over 25 years of experience in high-level institutional strategy and policy development.
She is recognized as a visionary and transformative professional with a passion for excellence in technical and vocational training. Dr. Mwinzi believes in the promotion of a strong link between training and industry and is a vocational and technical training champion.
In 2015, she was appointed Principal Secretary, Vocational & Technical Training (TVET), in the Ministry of Education, Kenya. Prior to that, she held the position of Director, Vocational and Technical Training at the Ministry of Education.
During her tenure, Dr. Mwinzi was instrumental in the establishment of the State Department of Vocational & Technical Training (VTT). Coordinating state agencies and stakeholders thus spearheading successful curriculum and policy reforms and aligning them with international standards.
For her role in transforming TVET in Kenya, Dr. Mwinzi was awarded the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) and Chief of Order of the Burning Spear (CBS).
She has consulted for the 2022 UNESCO-DAKAR, 2020 UNESCO-TVET and 2019 UNESCO-TVET as Principal Investigator.
Dr. Mwinzi has a DPhil in Education and MPhil in Philosophy from Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya. She also has a Graduate Diploma in Leadership Development in ICT and the Knowledge Society, from Dublin City University, Ireland, 2013. Her undergraduate degree is a B. Ed (Arts) from Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.
She currently holds the positions of Vice Chancellor at KAG Univeristy , Nairobi and Chairperson of the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI).
